01 / A WAY TO ORGANIZE IT
A reading list hasn’t become a plan for the week.
Reading, analysis and writing compete for attention across several deadlines. A long reading list is not yet a plan for the hours you have this week.

THE RIGHT TOOL FOR THIS PART OF THE WORK
Know where it fits.
Polylane helps researchers organize reading, analysis and writing across projects such as a thesis, paper and conference. Batch related review tasks into calendar sessions, while references and research data stay in their existing systems.
Polylane is not a reference manager, research-data system or guarantee of academic outcomes.
This three-project template fits Solo or its 14-day trial. Free supports two projects on your device. Solo adds unlimited projects and channels with cloud sync. Compare plans
Before you get started
Can I store references or participant data in this planner?
Use your reference manager and approved research-data systems for those records. Polylane is for planning the work; concise task labels can point you to the appropriate source without copying sensitive material.
How do I create “Literature synthesis”?
Add the tasks to Thesis chapter, Journal paper, Conference, select the related tasks and create a batch called Literature synthesis. Use In sequence to run them back-to-back, then choose a date and time. The example totals 75 minutes.
Can I try the real application before creating an account?
Yes. The sample opens the actual Polylane planner with disposable example work. You can edit tasks, change views and move the batch. Sample edits reset on reload and do not change your saved planner. Choose Use this template to review and add a fresh copy to your own planner. Preview edits are not copied.
Which plan do I need for this three-project example?
The three-project example fits Solo or the 14-day Solo trial. Free keeps two projects on the device, so a smaller two-project version works there. Solo adds unlimited projects and channels with cloud sync. See pricing for current terms.
