A content calendar that survives contact with a real week
Most content calendars are a spreadsheet nobody opens by week three. What has to be true for one to still be in use in month six.

Every creator has started a content calendar. Most are abandoned inside a month, and the reason is almost never discipline.
It is that the calendar and the work live in different places. The spreadsheet says Tuesday, the actual editing happens in another app, and updating the spreadsheet is a separate chore with no reward attached. Anything that only costs you effort gets dropped.
Rule one: the calendar has to be where you decide
A calendar you copy decisions into is a report. A calendar you make decisions in is a tool. The difference is whether scheduling something is the act of planning it, or a second step after planning it somewhere else.
If dragging a task onto Thursday *is* how it gets scheduled, the calendar stays current for free.
Rule two: one piece of work, not five rows
A single video is a script, a shoot, an edit, a thumbnail, a clip and a newsletter. Listing those as six independent rows means six chances to move one and forget the others.
Group them. When the shoot moves to Friday, everything downstream should move with it without you re-planning the week.
Rule three: unscheduled has to look different from unplanned
There is a real difference between "I have decided not to do this yet" and "I forgot this exists". A calendar that only shows scheduled things cannot tell you which is which.
Keep the unscheduled work visible next to the scheduled work. The point of a weekly review is not the tick count — it is seeing the tasks that have been sitting there unscheduled for three weeks, which is information no calendar alone will give you.
Rule four: it has to be fast on the day you hate it
Every planning system is tested on a bad week. If replanning takes twenty minutes, it does not happen, and one skipped week is usually the end.
Optimise for the recovery case: moving a batch to next week should be one action, and nothing should have to be retyped.
